From first steps to black belt — find the right session for your age and level.

We teach Wado Kai Karate in a friendly, structured environment across our East Lothian and Midlothian dojos. Beginners are always welcome, no experience needed.

Please arrive 10 minutes early. Wear comfy sportswear and bring water.

Weekly Timetable

Monday – Musselburgh

  • Juniors (5–12): 18:00–19:00
  • Seniors (10+ & Adults): 19:00–20:30

Wednesday – Musselburgh

  • Juniors (5–12): 18:00–19:00
  • Seniors (10+ & Adults): 19:00–20:30

Friday – Haddington

  • Family/All Levels (5+ & Adults): 18:00–19:00

Class Types

Beginners

In both junior and senior classes we cater for beginners 5–12 (Mon grades). Fun, safe intro to stances, strikes, blocks, and dojo etiquette.

Intermediate

Ages 10+ & Adults. Builds technique, fitness, and confidence; kata & kumite foundations.

Senior Classes

Brown–Black belt focus. Technical refinement, applications, Dan‑grade preparation.

Family / All Levels

Train together. Mixed‑level drills and partner work tailored by ability.

Grading Class

Students who are ready, will be invited to attend a grading class with the senior instructors.

Competitions

The JKC and SKF hold kata and kumite competitions throughout the year.

Fees & Membership

Monthly Training

  • Single student: £ POA/month
  • Family (2+): £ POA/month
  • Pay‑as‑you‑go (trial only): £6.00/session

Direct debit preferred. Concessions available—ask us in confidence.

Licensing & Gradings

  • SKF/Insurance licence (annual): Junior £26.00 - Senior £36.00 annually
  • JKC Mon/Kyu gradings (by invitation): Junior £ POA - Senior £ POA
  • Dan gradings (SKF): set by federation

Licences are required by all for training, gradings, and competition.

First Session Checklist

Common Questions

Can parents watch?
Yes - space permitting at each venue.
Do I need a uniform?
Not for trials. We’ll advise when to order a karate suit (gi).
Is it suitable for beginners?
Absolutely. We teach step‑by‑step with lots of support.
